I think their scale is wrong. I know how i ate this week. Actually i did not keep track of points, except mentally, because i lost my point keeper and after a few days it seemed pointless to when i did find it. But i know that i ate a whole bag of reeces peanut butter cups, more hard candy than i should have, and more bubble gum.

Yesterday i was weighing my clothes to decide what to wear. I knew that i had gained and hoped that if i could reduce my clothes weight, i could stay the same or, at least, minimize the gain. Unfortunately clothes only made a half pound difference. I did wear the lightest outfit, though. A half a pound is enough to count.

I stepped on the scale ready to take the bad news. I had lost 6 pounds. Even considering the clothes, i lost 5. I told the woman at the table that the scale must be wrong because i knew how i ate this week, but that i would take the star anyway.

I am still confused. I stepped on the scale here at home and i have lost, 4 pounds here, but still…. how does one lose eating candy?

  1. Body got all this new stuff and decided it was getting extra so it burned more off? Or maybe everything hasn’t processed through quite yet and it’s next week you have to be a little more active to make up for it.

I dunno.. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Explaining the operation of the human body to completion is beyond anyone.

  2. Yeah, perhaps you had set good patterns and have just seen the effects of a jump started metabolism.

People like to have clear cause and effect, and when it isn’t there we’ll create it (see any supersition ever known). There’s certainly a cause and effect with eating and weight, but it’s not something that’s going to manifest from week to week or day to day (pity).

This is one of those trends that you’ll see when you have 6 months or so of data. Maybe you’ll see that your body has about a two week lag between good habits and weight loss; backsliding and no weight loss.

Or maybe the gold star fairy was just being nice to you. Tell yourself that your body is a nice place that gives second chances even after eating many chocolates, and treat it to broccoli and apples.
