Since matters of maternatiy don’t all fit into the family website here, Christina and I started up a new website, Crabby’s First Website. Our intent is to make updates there about how the baby is doing, how we’re progressing, and other baby related news.
Hope to see some comments showing up there, and don’t worry: we’ll have plenty to say here too.
I was going to post this on the Crabby site, but discovered I had to register and all that. So, while I’m waiting on that registration to trickle through, here is a question:
How strict is the alcohol restriction? When I was on my theatre vacation in Asheville, I discovered a chocolate shop that just knocked me on my knees (very embarassing moment when I had my first strawberry from them 😉 They have the BEST truffles I’ve ever had. Bar None.
I was going to send some to you two, but then saw that you’d ordered Ethel M and didn’t want to overload you. Decided to surprise you sometime in March (I even wrote that on my calendar). Then you announced The Big News.
The reason I started this by asking about alcohol is that two of their truffles are in come way flavored by sprits – there is the Wine and Roses truffle (absolutely divine) and the Champagne truffle (haven’t tried that one).
Would you be able to take a taste of something like that? Now that I’ve mentioned it, are you at all interested? Do chocolates in general get you sighing or send you heaving? Let me know.
Their webpage – if you wanted to research them – is http://www.chocolatefetish.com/.
Well … let me know.
chocolates….still love chocolates. not supposed to have tons and tons of candy…but it’s something i love dearly. as long as there are no fish truffles, we should be fine. (and i am pretty good and taking a bite or whiff and knowing how my body will react now). chris has the ethel m’s hidden. lest i eat them all and chunk up more that i should.
as far as alcohol…it’s supposed to be “not a single drop” according to psychos (this is brought to you from the same bunch that says NO to caffiene, soft cheeses, undercooked meat/fish, etc). from what I understand…a small amount (i.e. a sip, a drop on the tongue) really isn’t going to break the bank. it when you sit down with a bottle and go to town that there’s a huge risk. the amount in a truffle is not a biggie. sides, i probably would only eat half of it anyway…and give the other half to chris.
our midwife….from personal experience advocates avoidance of caffiene (she had one kid that she craved coffee with, so she drank it all the time, kid came out and had caffiene withdrawl, screamed for 3 days straight) but she said as long as I was careful about my source of meat and cheese….go for it. it’s not a big deal, you just want to be careful about the freshness because my immune system is doing the job of two. food poisoning would not be a good situation. (but i also try to get as much vit c and the b’s as possible to keep my immune system up)
my question is this…what in the world did women do when all people drank was beer, wine, mead, ale, etc … you know what they drank it (drink beer not get sick, drink water and get cholera or typhus – DUH!!) …in moderation. and i bet their kids turned out just fine. (not that i am advocating a kegger) but really the amount in a truffle is no biggie.
