Does everyone get extra links in the site that connect to BuySpan.com or is it just me? I get them in other sites too and figured they were being paid by the linked site to let them put their links in, but I doubt seriously if Chris has anything like that set up here. Do you know if there is a way to block others from adding these links?
And while I am thinking about annoying things, in Firefox, I now have an add box that pops up on the right of my screen. I don’t like it. I can close it, but does anyone know how to make it so it doesn’t pop up in the first place? I have pop-ups blocked but this one is unaffected. I also have Adblock Plus, but apparently it doesn’t block that one… or if there is a way to make it block it, I don’t know what it is.
I certainly have not added any sort of advertising to the site.
My recommendation is to turn off every added toolbar. All of them, even the ones you really trust.
Then slowly go through them and turn each one back on until you find out which one is up to no good/has been hijacked.
Well, I have no added toolbars…. except for the AVG safe search one which i keep turned off. I do have some add-ons (little mini programs that block adds, block cookies, make downloading easier, add things not Amazon to my Amazon list). I have disabled all of them. We will see if the sidebar adds and unwanted links stop.
– OK Looks like something works….. I thought at first that it didn’t but when I went back to enable some, I saw that I had to restart to complete the disable on some. Since restarting I seem to be ok… I hope it lasts. I guess I will leave everything disabled for a little while to make sure.
