So, Chris …
It’s 15 weeks into the year … how is the book reading going?
I’m about to finish up Blue Mars – I had Red Mars in the top 10 list; Blue Mars is the last book in that trilogy. I’m reading it partially because it made the list. And now that I’m nearly done, I fully stand by Joseph’s recommendation 🙂
Next I have a few more Dresden books … I’ve read through Turn Coat; Joseph’s read through Ghost Story. Trying to wait till Cold Days is out in paperback.
But what have you read? Are you still on track? Have you read anything that you’d recommend?
I’m woefully behind, that’s where I’m at.
I’ve finished 8 books this year.
Men at Arms (Terry Pratchett) – ok, if you’re into the Pratchett world
A Memory of Light (Sanderson) – It is finally finished
Cold Days (Butcher) – … hey, you want me to send you this one? before I go review it and you go “NOOO! SPOILERS, BAD!” because if I do I can’t help but mention that Mab is (redacted). I know (redacted) has been busy, but I want to see what happens when (redacted) attempts to call them to the carpet. Harry has been doing the “Pile it Higher and Deeper” thing till he figures out what is going on, but now he’s discovered he traded in the spoon he was digging with for a large shovel. And we can just see that because (redacted), he’s totally about to move up to Steam Shovel Operator. It’s kinda funny as he goes from (redacted) to (redacted), and (redacted) and finally (redacted), and the message is the same:
*cough* Right. listing books.
World War Z (Brooks) – Way better than I expected it to be. Would Recommend.
Trapped, Iron Druid Chronicles (Hearne) – Mr Druid, you’ve played Dodge-the-Fights for 1000 years. Now you just signed up for the Big Leagues and you know it.
A Drive into the Gap (Guilfoile) – interesting baseball memories, quick read.
The Book Thief (Zusak) – Good story, good characters, but I could really do without the narration. I dunno, other people have liked it, but the style wasn’t doing it for me.
Altered Carbon (Morgan) – If we can download minds into the computer, and clone people, how would that change the world?
Oooh … yes, if you could lend us Cold Days that would be excellent. Joseph is ready to read it now, and I’ll be ready soon enough. I only have a few hundred pages left in Blue Mars, and I don’t have that much to make up in the Dresden books, and they go fast.
