Last year we drew names for an adult gift exchange.
I thought it worked really well. I’d like to do that again this year.
Collective thoughts? Was there anything we did last year that you’d like to change for this year?
And who has the Christmas Eve cat this year?
Well, I hoped someone else would answer this one but nobody has, so here goes.
As for drawing names, I think that is what most want to do – Draw among the adults and everybody get to give to all the kids. We need to draw soon. I guess I could draw and post them now. It doesn’t make any difference who draws.
Luke- Ramona
Nelia- Christina
Ramona- Chris
Joseph- Nelia
Chris- Joseph
Christina- Luke
OK?
Do we want a price point or do we pretty much know what we are aiming at?
Looking back through the site, and relying on memory when I didn’t find anything on the site, this is what I came up with. (We need to make a point of making mention of the person and theme on the site so we don’t have to rely on memory.)
Christina had it in 2014 (bad ninjas)
Joseph had it in 2013 (light)
Luke had it in 2012 (blast from the past)
Ramona had it in 2011 (Mayan calendar)
Christina had it in 2010 (Fiber)
Nelia had it in 2009 (Unique Christmas ornament)
I guess that makes it Chris’s turn?
Unless we are going to mix it up and it not be predictable whose turn it is… Seems like there was talk of that. In that case I suggest that the most recent 2 or 3 people are out and the rest of us draw in which case it could be Chris, Ramona, or Nelia… or the three of us and Luke.
Or is it that the last person to have the cat names the next person? We did that when Joseph passed the cat to Christina. If that is the case, it is up to you, Christina, to name the next person.
We must get this settled before Thanksgiving!
Names sound good to me. I second the list!
The price point last year was around $50ish. That seemed right to me. I like a price point as a loose guideline so the experience and expectations are all set the same.
As I recall, the CE gift was to go in six-name cycles – everyone got one year with it, in no particular order, and once everyone had had a go the cycle set off again. It does make it rather hard to remember that way. Should we set a more regular schedule for it?
How about by family, staying with Chris this year and then going Luke & Nelia, Ramona & Joseph, Chris & Christina. But within each family group, you can decide who has it when (could be Luke first or Nelia first as you decide).
Just to clarify … I mean that everyone would get a turn when it was with your family.
Like this:
Year 1-2: Nelia/Luke (any order)
Year 3-4: Ramona/Joseph (any order)
Year 5-6: Chris/Christina (any order)
Year 7-8: Nelia/Luke (any order)
etc.
We’ll just keep track of which family has it, but within each family you decide who has it which year.
Which brings up another question – when are we going to pull Aleah & Donavan into this? That’s totally up to parental discretion, but Mom & I were talking about that this morning and we’re all ready for them to join in, whenever.
Just wondering, since it’s with Chris’s group, if you guys want to include Aleah & Donavan this year, and then keep the cat for the next two years and have the kids pick the theme. Or if you’d just like to have them join, or wait another 2-3 years … or whatever.
I’m good with whoever does the deciding. If it’s up to me to decide what the theme is, I’m ready for it.
I’d keep this Adult Only right now. Aleah would probably get it, Donavan might not quite be ready. And it’s kinda fun having something that’s just us grown up peoples.
OK, Chris, You are it… name your theme and draw your names. 🙂
Next year it is either Luke or me, then?
