Idly curious

This is mostly for Dad and for Chris, though I think it would be fun if we all played along.

But for Dad and Chris – and for no particular reason, with the understanding that asking the question is no guarentee whatsoever of any potential future action – why don’t you meander over to http://despair.com/viewall.html and jot down which 12 of these posters cause you the most pain and anguish.
And then reply here with those 12 ……..

  1. ps – if you care to put those 12 in order .. say, calendar order .. I suppose that’s an option. Or if a selected few seemed to suggest a month to you, that would be an interesting tidbit of information. Again, just as a topic of conversation ……

  2. Oh my!

oooo i want to play!!! but so many to choose from!!!
    squeee head asplodes!

be back with my choices shortly

  3. Oh no. Poor Aleah .. her mother’s head just exploded.

Shall we call Despair.com’s comment line and leave them some personal feedback?

where did the image go; I think.
All gone, so small, so few
I guess these pictures here will do.
Now I must choose, in order place
which image a calandar shall grace.
A year has months, but only twelve
now into this dilemma I must dwelve.
Below I list my choice, but hark
the monitor, my screen went dark.
    The APC says “Power gone”
I go outside onto my lawn.
My neighbor says, “Lost power too?”
    I reply “Yes, and you?”.
    Powers back I can resume
will make my choice and post real soon.
Poet great I may not be
but heres’ my list for all to see.

    #1 Worth
    #2 Compromise
    #3 Consulting
    #4 Individuality
    #5 Pressure
    #6 Planning
    #7 Overconfidence
    #8 Teamwork
    #9 Sacrifice
#10 Mistakes (Nelia gave me this large poster last year)
    #11 Achievement
    #12 Retirement

Notice how they seem to follow the development of a project, no matter which project or industry it is.

  5. It was difficult to narrow these down to 12. I had to least out some that i really like, deciding to take the ones that relate to me personally somehow. I had to cut so many i like to do that.

These are some i like that i cut:
Ambition – The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly
Elitism – It’s lonely at the top, but it’s comforting to look down upon everyone at the bottom.
Individuality – Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else.
Meetings – None of us is as dumb as all of us.

And these are my list, in order of preference at the moment. At another moment, there might be a different list and a different order:

Procrastination – Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.
Mistakes – It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.
Compromise – Let’s agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be
Risks – If you never try anything new, you’ll miss out on many of life’s great disappointments
Problems – No matter how great and destructive your problems may seem now, remember, you’ve probably only seen the tip of them
Destiny – You were meant for me. Perhaps as a punishment.
Dysfunction – The only consistent feature in all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.
Planning – Much work remains to be done before we can announce our total failure to make any progress.
Irresponsibility – No single raindrop believes it is to blame for the flood.
Incompetence – When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there’s no end to what you can’t do.
Worth – Just because you’re necessary doesn’t mean you’re important
Limitations – Until you spread your wings, you’ll have no idea how far you can walk.

And i do not want a calendar, much as I like demotivators.

However, I do like my magnet for procrastination and more of same would work for me.

  6. Well, I wanted to see other people’s list first 🙂

    I have a top tier:
    Burnout
    Cluelessness
    Conformity
    Idiocy
    Mediocrity
    Procrastination
    Worth

And to round that out to 12:
    Inspiration
    Sacrifice (temple)
    Ignorance
    Ineptitude
    Overconfidence

    Other top contenders were
    Achievement
    Get to Work
    Do it Later
    Blame
    Doubt
    Limitations

I suppose if they decided to do an 18-month calendar, I’d be set.

  7. I swear I’ll get to this soon. I’ll be making posts later on the family site that will explain my delay.  (well, unless that gets delayed too)
