This is why I bought the camera

Here is an awesome shot from the past weekend while visiting the relatives down in Victoria.

That is as it came out of the camera.  There is no photoshop magic, no cropping, ect.  The only thing done is converting to JPG from RAW and the default resize that flickr does.

Personally, I love that I was able to get an action shot as Aleah was getting pushed around by her cousins.

  1. When i was visiting Pat i tried to take candid photos of his boys. Unfortunately there is a long pause before the camers snaps the picture so all the pictures i got were of them turning away. Does your new camera have that long pause between pressing the button to take the picture and the camera actually snapping the picture?

Nice photo… i suppose owing to a faster shutter speed?

  2. For the camera I’m using, the only delay you might get is for the autofocus.

The shot above was taken using one of the AI Focus modes which, once you have focused on a subject, it keeps reevaluating the focus as the subject moves. So, there wasn’t any focusing delay; just me pressing the button down the rest of the way.

One of my favorite features of the camera is the power-up time. If I leave the camera ‘on’ and set it down, it will power off after a minute of non-use. Later, since it is still switched ‘on’, all I need to do is press the ‘take picture’ button to turn it on. The camera will turn itself on and be fully ready faster than I can push the ‘take picture’ button. (ok, maybe if I was really trying to, I could be faster than the camera, but I don’t in most cases)

This is the reason why you’ll often see the camera laying about without the lens cap on. I want it to be ready to take a picture at a moment’s notice.

  3. I have looked and looked and cannot find a link to where you uploaded the rest of the pictures.

Also, i have tried to take a couple of pictures that you have put here recently and the only way i can is to do a screenshot. That is frustrating. Is there another way?

  4. If there is a particular picture you are after, e-mail me. I can send the source image to you that way, instead of the small versions that get put online.
