You never can completely let your guard down around people. They treat you just fine for months, keeping the food bowl full most of the time, giving you a little of the good stuff from time to time (usually when Penelope yells about it). They pet you when you want it and you get to thinking they’re OK.
And then one day, for absolutely no reason, they chase you down, grab you, and shove you into a box no matter how hard you fight to stay out of it. And then they put you in the car and take you to a bad place where they just stand there and let strangers do inexplicable horrible things to you. And then they take you home and let you out of the box and act like everything is fine.
It happened to me today…… Now i am watching them, especially Luke who did it. I am watching Nelia too, just in case. She was right there holding the box. She isn’t as bad as Luke, but she isn’t trustworthy either. It is going to be a long time before I let either of them anywhere near me.
Mileva’s reply:
I KNOW!!!!!!
For a while I thought those other people were sort of OK – you know, they pet me and sometimes there were treats, there too. Boy, was I wrong. Not too long ago, they came in and did … well, I can’t even tell you. It was graphic.
And my person Just Stood There! That was the worst part.
I’m sorry you had to learn, but you’re right. Can’t trust them. Well, you can trust them when they’re bringing you moist treats. But when they have a box? They change when they’re holding boxes.
Are you going to be OK? Are there plenty of dark places to hide where you are so you can recover? Get that Penelope to ask for more treats, if she’s the one that asks – you’ve sure earned some.
Annwynn adds:
Fight hard, sister. You have claws; use them. Oh, they’ll eventually get you out of the box, there at the Place of Evil Smells. But don’t make it easy.
And scream; scream like you’ve never screamed before. They’ll have to bring in more people, this will buy you time. They’ll continue for a while … but eventually, they always give up and stop. Just scream and claw. I don’t know what they’d do if you just sat there and let them, but I don’t want to find out.
So remember – Scream and Claw.
Oh no! are you telling me there is a place like that near you too!!!! It’s worse than I thought. Humans are seriously warped.
Things have settled down here, though. The box is back up the stairs so I am feeling a little safer. I think you are right, Mileva. It must be the box that makes them crazy.
My people have been giving me treats and talking softly about feeling better and sneezing. Well of course I feel better! The box is back up the stairs! What sneezing has to do with anything i do not know. I’ll tell you what, though, if they really cared about my feeling better they would not have done that horrible thing to me yesterday! I was the only one they picked on!!! And nobody helped me! Bruce could have bitten someone! He just sat there. And Penelope, the coward, kept running frantically from bedroom to sewing room and back without a thought about what I was going through. I did fight, Annwynn; I used my claws, but i used them to stay out of the box. I’ll try to remember to turn them on the humans next time.
I guess I am not completely over it. It is upsetting to remember. But Luke did smell soooo gooooood last night after his shower that I had to rub on him and this morning Nelia sat in that chair in front of the square thing that she looks at all the time so i knew she wanted to pet me and decided to let her.
It must be the box…. I’ll just have to watch for the box.
