Another neat addition

When you login the default action is to take you to the ‘dashboard’, a place that lets you get a quick overview of things.  Mother wanted that to drop you back to the front-page instead.  I haven’t found a way to do that; however, I did figure out how to have it re-direct you to the place you likely want to go: the make a post page.

I’m not sure if I’m going to keep this addition or not.  We’ll see how useful it is and if ya’ll like it or not

  1. OK – actually, I thought the dashboard was the only part of the site for the longest time (until I had to go scavenging to find that blasted Christmas list..)

For now, I’ve changed my bookmark and hardly ever log in (except when I need to post something long about Grailing).

I think that having it re-direct to the post page will be worth a try. That’s is what I log in for, after all.

My only complaint about the family page (as opposed to the dashboard) is that I lose comments. Unless I’m really looking to see if someone responded, those comments are probably falling by the wayside. I like how the dashboard shows you the latest activity, both the latest posts and the latest comments. That reminds me to check out old threads with new content.

Just a random observation, totally unrelated to the neat addition .. I like the work that you’ve been doing. You’re a good page moderator.

  2. I like that the dashboard displayes information about the latest goings on with the blog. That’s part of why I don’t know if this is a feature that I’d really like or not. Maybe a checkbox for ‘take me to the posting page’ would be workable.

However, I’m not all that enamoured with the myriad of other blogs that the dashboard displays. Yes, I know they are blogs about WordPress that show up there, allowing me to keep up with any updates…. but what about the people that could care less about what’s going on with that? Anyway, just something that I’d like to change.

(oh, and there is a neat javascript bookmark that you can create from the ‘write a post’ page; try it out if you’re bored)

  3. I never noticed that place where you can see the latest activity! How very useful! I do not think i have missed any posts completely, but i have found them much later then they were left.
